Reopening Employment and Immigrant Services

Most of our Employment Services and Immigrant Services have been operating virtually throughout the pandemic, and we are pleased to now be open and welcoming clients by appointment!

Starting August 4, 2020 our Employment Access Centres, Newcomer Information Centre, and Language Assessment and Referral Centres will be open for in-person services (by appointment only).

Employment Access Centres (EAC) FAQs

1. Can I come to the EAC anytime?

No. We are currently only open to clients by appointment. If you are receiving assisted services, please contact to your employment consultant to schedule an appointment. If you are a new client, please contact the location that is closest to you.

2. What are your hours of operation?

Monday to Thursday: 8:30AM to 4:30PM, and Friday: 8:30AM to 4PM

3. Will computers be available?

Yes. Computers will be accessible by appointment only. Clients will be asked to sanitize their computer station before and after they use it.

4. Do you have health and safety measures in place?

There are a variety of measures that are being put in place to keep both clients and staff safe:

  • In-person appointments will be conducted in an open space with 2 meters distance between the staff and client.
  • All staff and clients who enter the premises will be asked to use the hand sanitization station located at the entrance.
  • All touchable surfaces are being disinfected regularly.
  • Documents that clients need to be printed, will be emailed to the reception desk, and printed on behalf of the client to minimize the number of people needing to touch the printer and surrounding surfaces.
  • Clients will be required to sanitize their computer station after they finish using it
  • Limited amount of staff and clients in the centre at all times to allow for proper social distancing.
  • COVID-19 pre-screening assessments are completed for both staff and clients before they enter the premises.

 5. Do I have to wear a mask in the EAC office?

Yes, as directed by Ottawa Public Health, masks must be worn at all times by clients while they are in the centre. Please bring your own mask.

6. Are workshops taking place?

Yes. Our workshops are being offered online. You can view our webinar schedule on our website.

7. I am not feeling well/not comfortable accessing service in person at this time. Can I still receive job search assistance virtually?

Yes, we will be continuing our virtual appointments and workshops for the foreseeable future.

8. Can I bring family members or friends with me to my appointment?

At this time, only clients who have a scheduled appointment are able to come into the centre. This means you can’t bring other people with you into the centre.


Newcomer Information Centre (NIC) FAQs

1. How can I book my appointment with the NIC?

2. Do I have to wear a mask in the NIC office?

Yes, as directed by Ottawa Public Health, masks must be worn at all times by clients while they are in the centre. Please bring your own mask.

3. Are there health and safety procedures to be aware of?

The centre has been equipped with sanitizers and signs to make sure you follow the 2 meter social distance policy. In addition, we will pre-screen clients  when we book their appointment, and again before entering our office.

4. Are computers available for use?

If your only need is to access a computer, we recommend you to contact us after August 17 to provide you with an update. We are only seeing limited amount of clients per day and with specific needs, so please call us or email us to best serve you accordingly.

5. What are your hours of operation?

We are currently operating from Monday to Thursday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM, and Friday from 8:30AM to 4PM. We are limiting appointments each day to fit in specific time blocks. Please contact us to set up an appointment.


Language Assessment and Referral Centres (LARC) FAQs
